How to Unlock Deserter Gold
Picking up the item called Spy's Notes triggers the quest. It is found far northeast from the Mill.

This quest cannot be failed.

| 1 | Find a small camp northeast of the Mill. |
| 2 | Loot the surroundings and receive an item called Spy's Notes. |
| 3 | Read Spy's Notes in your Quest Items to advance the quest. |
| 4 | Follow the objective marker to a small house. |
| 5 | Jump into the hole in the floor and break down the door. |
| 6 | Loot all items in the chests to end the quest. |
Note: One chest is locked and is reserved for another quest called Temerian Valuables.

Defeating Wolves
There might be wolves near the small camp. Your steel sword should be enough. Use Beast Oil and Igni if you're outnumbered.
Is Deserter Gold Worth It?
This quest gives you somewhat useful benefits when you complete it. The Metinna blade and Vicovaro blade are worth considering, if you still don't have a powerful weapon.
