Roanoke Valley ANDREWS, Marvin Edward, 89, of Roanoke, passed away Tuesday, March 16, 1993 after a long illness. Born in Bedford County, Mr. Andrews was the late John A. and Addie Tankersley Andrews. Mr.

Andrews up in Roanoke and graduated from the old Roanoke High School. He was founder and president of AndrewsPitzer-Butler Fuel Oil Corporation. He started in business in 1926 with Andrews Battery Company. He expanded with a larger location at the old Commerce Street intersection in 1936. As he expanded, he also sold Nash automobiles and insurance until he formed Andrews Oil Company.

In 1955, he merged with the late Blair Pitzer and Jack Butler to form Andrews-Pitzer-Butler Fuel Oil Corporation which became the largest home supplier of fuel oil in the Roanoke Valley. He was also founder and president of AndrewsTrout, Inc. He was a lifelong member of Melrose United Methodist Church and in recent years, he attended Windsor Hills United Methodist Church. He was an active supporter of both congregations. His generosity made it possible for many young people to receive educational opportunities they otherwise would not have had.

He was a supporter of Blue Ridge Public Television and among his hobbies were golfing and building bird feeders. Surviving are his wife of over 70 years, Mabel Hall Andrews: sister, Frances Ellen Andrews, Roanoke; son and daughter-in-law, Jack Edward and Joann Andrews, Virginia Beach; grandsons, John M. Andrews, Roanoke, Michael E. Andrews, Salem. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Melrose United Methodist Church or Windsor Hills United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday at Windsor Hills United Methodist Church by the Rev. D. Michael Meloy and the Rev. Richard L.

Mcnu*tt. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Oakey's Roanoke.

She was born to the late David and Rosa Lynch on January 5, 1914. A member of the Northeast congregation of the Jehovah Witnesses; she retired in 1976, after 10 years of service with the Roanoke City School Board. Funeral 3 p.m. Friday, Oakey's North Chapel. Interment in Sherwood Memorial Park. Bedford-Franklin GREEN, Charles Edward 80, died at his home near Lowry on March 15, 1993. Born in Petersburg August 17, 1912, he was the son of the late Rev.

Charles Edward Green Sr. and Nannie Walker Morgan Green. He was educated at Randolph-Macon Academy, Randolph-Macon College, Virginia Polytechnic Institute, and the Medical College of Virginia School of Pharmacy. During a career of over 50 years as a community pharmacist, Mr. Green also represented Bedford County in the Virginia House of Delegates, was a past president of the Virginia Pharmaceutical Association, and served on numerous state and local boards, including those of Central Virginia Community College, Dominion Bank, and Main Street United Methodist Church.

He was for many years an instructor at the Virginia Model General Assembly, and will be remembered locally as a long-time master of ceremonies for Bedford's Christmas Basket Program. He was a member of Liberty Masonic Lodge and the Kazim Shrine Temple. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Caldwell Green, and is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Markham Fowler Green; his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Charles E.

Green III; three grandchildren, Charles E. Green IV, Ann Wilton Green, William Wilson Green. A private family graveside service will be conducted Thursday, March 18 at 12:30 p.m. in Greenwood Cemetery, Bedford. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, was a member of the Rocky Mount United Methodist Church and a retired Virginia State Trooper with thirty three years service. New River Valley McCOY, Alvin Lewis, 56, of Mc- Coy, died Monday, March 15, 1993, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Mr. McCoy was born in McCoy on December 2, 1936 and was preceded in death by his father, Hobert McKinley McCoy. He was a supervisor in the carpenter shop at VA Tech with more than 30 years of service, in 1989 he received a 25 year service award. He was a charter member of the Longshop-McCoy Volunteer Fire and First Aid Department, serving as 1st and 2nd captain in 1972 and chief from 1973 to 1976.

Surviving are his wife, Joyce Caldwell McCoy; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey "Jeff' Lewis and Tina D. McCoy, Gregory "Greg" Alvin and Robin H. McCoy; two grandchildren, Danielle McCoy and Allen Lewis McCoy, all of McCoy; his mother, Mary Jane Price McCoy, McCoy; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Rae and Rufus Spence, Tazewell; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Duane and Melita McCoy, John Allen and Frances W. He was born at Willowton, W. Va. on September 24, 1918 and was the son of the late Ernest Maston and Minnie Edith Fluvanna Bailey Thomas. He was a retired foreman for the Fibers Company Plant at Narrows, a veteran of World War II, a member of the Glen Lyn Church of Christ at Glen Lyn, and a member and Past Master of John Dove Lodge A.F.& A.M. of Peterstown, W.Va.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence Maston Thomas and James Elmer Thomas and a sister, Nellie Gray Thomas.
