I am seriously loving peach season this year. It has come at us full force with the help of a local farm fruit stand that is less than a block away. It is nearly impossible not to stop there daily and pick up a few of those beauties!

We have been adding peaches to our snacking for the last few weeks and have slowly been incorporating them into breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Last week my eleven year old requested a smoothie. Who am I to deny him?

A quick search in the refrigerator had me pulling out a few basic ingredients. I tossed them into the blender, gave it a good pulse, and presented the creation to my very picky eater. He instantly declared this his FAVORITE smoothie of all time.

Peach Yogurt Smoothie ingredients

I cannot stress enough how simple this recipe is. It uses only three easy ingredients.

  • Frozen Peaches- Fresh can be used in place of frozen. I like to use frozen fruit instead of fresh to avoid adding ice. If you do opt for fresh, add 1/2 to 1 cup of ice to the blender.
  • Vanilla yogurt – you could also use plain with a touch of honey if you’d like!
  • Juice- I had this can of peach nectar which was AMAZING. However, we have also used orange and mango juice with equally delicious results!

Optional add-in ingredients: Granola, pinch of ground cinnamon, honey or agave.

Best liquid to put in a smoothie:

I would not say there is one best liquid to use in a smoothie. It will really depend on the flavor profiles, what you have on hand, and what you like. Here are a few of our go-to liquids to add into our smoothies:

  • Milk- 2% is what we always have on hand, but we also use almond milk, coconut milk, or cashew!
  • Juices- Orange, apple, or other fruit juices. These are normally higher in sugar, so I do try to limit the total amount I use or water it down slightly.
  • Water- Specifically, coconut water. Adds just a touch of flavor and is super yummy.

Alright, let’s break this down. It is a fantastic base smoothie and very kid friendly, but what can you add to take it to the next level? The options below are some of my favorite ways to make my smoothies a little more filling:

  • Spinach or Kale- Full disclosure, this will make your smoothie a not so fun color, but you can hardly taste the added flavor.
  • Protein powder- This is a simple and easy addition to add a little more of a filling factor.
  • Cottage Cheese- Seems different, but it adds protein and tastes great!
  • Chia, hemp, or flax seed.

Always remember, less is more. This smoothie already has a decent amount of protein with Greek yogurt.

How to make a Peach Smoothie with just 3 ingredients

  1. Pour the peach nectar, or other juice, into the blender. Top with the yogurt and frozen peaches.
  2. Blend, starting at a low power and working up, for 1 to 2 minutes or until the peaches are pureed and the drink is fully mixed.
  3. Divide between two glasses and enjoy!

How to store Peach Smoothie

Smoothies are best when enjoyed as soon as possible, for the best texture and flavor. However, if you find yourself with leftovers you have a few options.

If you plan to enjoy the rest within 24 hours, you can keep the smoothie in a sealed jar inside the refrigerator.

For a longer storage solution you can freeze the leftover smoothie. Note that freezing may slightly affect the smoothie’s texture. Pour the leftover smoothie into a freezer safe container, making sure to leave an inch of space at the top of the container. Freeze solid.

When you’re ready to enjoy the peach smoothie, thaw it in the refrigerator overnight or for a few hours until it reaches a slushy or liquid consistency. Stir well before serving to redistribute any settled ingredients. Avoid refreezing thawed smoothies for optimal taste and texture.
